Will Dr Doyin Okupe's resignation negatively affect the presidential ambition and campaign of Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi is a question on the lips of some Nigerians. On Tuesday, December 20, the erstwhile director general of the ObiDatti 2023 presidential campaign organisation, Dr Doyin Okupe threw in the towel.
Dr Doyin Okupe before his resignation, had a day earlier been in an Abuja Court to answer to a case of money laundering leveled against him. Dr Okupe, one time PDP stalwart and a former media aide to one time President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, was convicted for money laundering. Following Okupe's conviction and the comments and reactions that followed by members of the general public, the Labour Party campaign DG had to tender his resignation letter, which he directly addressed to Mr Peter Obi.

A good number of political observers have stated that the resignation and indictment of Okupe will not do the most famous political party on Nigeria's social media any good. These sets of Nigerians see the resignation of Okupe as a big dent to the presidential ambition of Obi.
On the other hand, fans of the former Anambra state governor and current Labour Party presidential candidate believe Okupe was an honourable man for quitting his position. They opined that it was the right call in the right direction.
For members of the two leading political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), they have continued to tongue-whip the Labour Party, as being a political party with double-face and shady character individuals.
Below is the resignation of Dr Doyin Okupe:
Going forward, Nigerians of independent and discerning minds are watching what will happen in the later days as per who will replace Okupe. Also, some critics of the Labour Party will continue to put forward that the Peter Obi presidential ambition has a lot of grey areas not yet clear to Nigerians as such critics believe that there are some questionable characters currently in the Party.
