#RamadanDailyDigest: After Ramadan Day 10, How Would You Assess Yourself?

As everyone who is fasting clocks Ramadan Day 10 tonight, how would you assess yourself in all acts of worship that should be done during Ramadan fasting? Would you give yourself below, average or a passmark? When you assess yourself, you would be able to know how to buckle up going into the remaining 19 or 20 days of Ramadan.

The question of how would you assess yourself is important as it keeps you in check if you have been neglecting all what will increase your spirituality and keep you closer to Allaah or not. This is because in verse 186 of Suuratul Baqara (chapter 2) of the Glorious Qur'an, Allaah stated that: "when my servants (Muslims who are fasting) ask you (Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) about Me (Allaah), surely I (Allaah) am close to them (Muslims who are fasting); I (Allaah) answer the prayers/supplications of the person praying when he calls Me (Allaah); therefore they (people) should answer Me (by worshipping Me, Allaah) and believing in Me (Allaah) so that they (people) would be guided."

The message in the above quoted verse of chapter 2 is that when a Muslim does what Allaah wants from him in terms of worship, keeping to lawful things and doing away with forbidden acts, Allaah is ever ready to answer such a Muslim's prayers. Therefore, the question of how would you assess yourself after Ramadan Day 10 is telling you that all the things you want from Allaah would be given to you when you obey Allaah.

In this wise, how have you fared so far with the five daily compulsory prayers of Subh, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Ishaa? How have you gone in the recitation of the Glorious Qur'an, or you even haven't opened The Book of Allaah since the commencement of Ramadan up to now? Do you leave the Mosque immediately after Salaatul Ishaa, without performing Taraweeh? These and others are loads of questions you need to answer regarding how would you assess yourself so far as Ramadan for this year continues its journey.

How would you assess yourself?
Going to the Mosque and other acts of worship in Ramadan, how would you assess yourself?

It is never too late for you to allow the spirit of Ramadan to enter you in terms of engaging in acts of worship which will make you maximise the benefits of the holy month of Ramadan.

Conclusively, suffice to state here that you must strike a balance between seeking your daily bread and acts of worship in Ramadan.

READ THIS TOO:  Fasting For 18 Hours Isn't A Joke What the above paragraph is explaining likewise is that you, as a fasting Muslim should not be a troublemaker by causing problems with your tongue during Ramadan fasting. It is important to add quickly that whether before, during or after Ramadan, you should not cause rancour among people. In some instances, people who dare not talk to you with disgust might want to tease you as they know you are fasting. Therefore, you should know what to tell troublem...

7 Greatest Sportsmen Of All Time

There are often arguments and counterarguments on who the 7 greatest sportsmen of all time are. Some sports historians, analysts, and supporters pick their own choices not necessarily on facts but emotions.  In picking the 7 greatest sportsmen of all time, I briefly checked their achievements not just in their specific fields but also their impact outside the world of sports. 1. Boxing legend, Muhammad Ali has been crowned the best sports athlete of all time in a star-studded list. The 'Greatest' is widely considered the best boxer in history and arguably the most iconic sports star of the 20th century.  Ali was not just a beauty to watch in the boxing ring, the greatest pugilist positively influenced decisions in many countries globally.  2. Pele is widely picked as the winner, and number one football player in history in all criteria. His three-time World Cup-winning feat, from four World Cup appearances, is unlikely to be matched. Pele scored a Guinness World Record of...

#RamadanDailyDigest: Significance Of Moonsighting & Commencement Of Ramadan

Ramadan Daily Digest, which is an annual article on the stable of Naijaloveinfo with hashtag, #RamadanDailyDigest will be discussing briefly the significance of moonsighting and the commencement of Ramadan. Ramadan, which is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar is the only month in which Muslims, the world over fast from dawn till sunset for 29 or 30 days. Allaah commands Muslims to fast as stated in some parts of Suuratul Baqara (chapter 2) of The Glorious Qur'an. The Glorious Qur'an is the first and most important book to all Muslims. For all the Islamic months, starting from Muharram (first month) to Dhul Hajj (12th month), the numbers of days in each of these 12 months are often 29 days and once in a while 30 days. The interesting thing about counting days is that the crescent (new moon) plays an important role. Therefore, the significance of moonsighting is the first consideration before starting the Ramadan fasting.  The question that could come up is why do Muslims co...
