#AFCON2019: Infuriated Egyptians Tell Nigeria What They Should Do Against South Africa

Following the dumping out of the Pharaohs of Egypt in the hands of Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON), the North African host of the competition wants the Super Eagles of Nigeria to defeat the rainbow nation.

Recall that South Africa shocked the host nation by 1-0 in the Round-of-16 of the tournament.

More information by Tori.ng has it that; Several hours after the Bafana Bafana of South Africa ended the Pharaohs’ campaign in the on-going 2019 Afcon with a 1-0 defeat on Saturday, many Egyptians stayed rooted to their seats not believing what had happened to their darling team.

Thirteen years ago when Egypt hosted the African Cup of Nations, the Pharaohs displayed a brilliant performance by winning the trophy, beating the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the final.

Many Egyptians were looking forward to a repeat of the 2006 outing this time, but their campaign went up in flames in the round of 16 on Saturday, a few hours after the Super Eagles of Nigeria sent the defending champions, Indomitable Lions of Cameroon packing from the competition with a 3-2 defeat in Alexandria.

Though the encounter between the Pharaohs and Bafana Bafana took place in the capital, Cairo, the impact of the defeat was felt around the country. Like the typical Brazilian football fans, many Egyptians stayed away from other things, including sales and driving whenever the Pharaohs are on the field of play. The result was shocking. The entire country was like a graveyard.

And from Cairo to Alexandria, Zamalek, Port Said and to other major cities in Egypt, the fans wore long faces, mourning the defeat to South Africa.
Now, the people want the Super Eagles of Nigeria to avenge the defeat for their country by beating the Bafana Bafana in their quarterfinal tie on Wednesday.

Those who spoke with The Guardian in Alexandria said they would pay their way to Cairo to support the Super Eagles in the encounter with South Africa.

7 Greatest Sportsmen Of All Time

There are often arguments and counterarguments on who the 7 greatest sportsmen of all time are. Some sports historians, analysts, and supporters pick their own choices not necessarily on facts but emotions.  In picking the 7 greatest sportsmen of all time, I briefly checked their achievements not just in their specific fields but also their impact outside the world of sports. 1. Boxing legend, Muhammad Ali has been crowned the best sports athlete of all time in a star-studded list. The 'Greatest' is widely considered the best boxer in history and arguably the most iconic sports star of the 20th century.  Ali was not just a beauty to watch in the boxing ring, the greatest pugilist positively influenced decisions in many countries globally.  2. Pele is widely picked as the winner, and number one football player in history in all criteria. His three-time World Cup-winning feat, from four World Cup appearances, is unlikely to be matched. Pele scored a Guinness World Record of...

#RamadanDailyDigest: Significance Of Moonsighting & Commencement Of Ramadan

Ramadan Daily Digest, which is an annual article on the stable of Naijaloveinfo with hashtag, #RamadanDailyDigest will be discussing briefly the significance of moonsighting and the commencement of Ramadan. Ramadan, which is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar is the only month in which Muslims, the world over fast from dawn till sunset for 29 or 30 days. Allaah commands Muslims to fast as stated in some parts of Suuratul Baqara (chapter 2) of The Glorious Qur'an. The Glorious Qur'an is the first and most important book to all Muslims. For all the Islamic months, starting from Muharram (first month) to Dhul Hajj (12th month), the numbers of days in each of these 12 months are often 29 days and once in a while 30 days. The interesting thing about counting days is that the crescent (new moon) plays an important role. Therefore, the significance of moonsighting is the first consideration before starting the Ramadan fasting.  The question that could come up is why do Muslims co...
