Many Injured As Man Opens Fire On Horse Rider During Wedding Ceremony In Kano

Many people sustained various degrees of injuries after a man opened fire at a horse rider during a marriage ceremony in Kano, North-West Nigeria.

Daily Trust reports further that: Scores of people were injured yesterday as man opened fire on horse riders in Hausawa Quarters in Kumbotso Local Governnent Area of Kano State.

The incident occurred when some youths, who were holding a special horse riding as part of a wedding ceremony of their colleague, attempted to pass through a street.

A resident said: “The horse riders dared him by passing through the street and the man opened fire at them, thereby injuring many of the horse riders.

They were rushed to hospital for treatment.” Daily Trust gathered that about 10 of those who sustained gunshot injuries were admitted at Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital around 8pm.

Malam Muhammad Abdullahi, the father to one of the victims, described the situation as unfortunate, saying “I have never seen this kind of madness in my life. How could someone just open fire on innocent youths for just no course?” The Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Abdullahi, confirmed the incident but said he had not received details yet.
