This Is What Real Madrid Did To Prevent Luka Modric From Leaving Club

After Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus, the Spanish giant has taken bold steps to tie down Luka Modric from leaving the Bernabeu.

Internazionale's interest in signing Luka Modric is concrete, however, Real Madrid have no intention of allowing the midfielder to leave with it likely that the Croatian will receive another reward in the form of a sizeable pay-rise.

The Italian giants have been quietly working on a deal to sign the best player at the 2018 World Cup since the start of the summer, especially with it intimated to them that the former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker wouldn't be averse to leaving Madrid.

Florentino Perez has been strong in his assertions that Modric wouldn't leave the club for a euro less than his 750 million euro buy-out clause, but the situation is a difficult one.

Cristiano Ronaldo's buy-out clause was lowered from 1 billion euros to 100 million euros as part of a gentleman's agreement with the president.

It's unclear as to whether or not a similar situation exists where the Croatian is concerned, but Internazionale have certainly been led to believe that a deal is worth pursuing.

Unlike Ronaldo, Modric isn't expected to depart the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and will likely put pen to paper on a new contract, one which will see his salary rise from eight million euros per season, something that is important when you consider this will be the 32-year-old's last huge contract.

Luka Modric

Relations between the club and player aren't at breaking point, nor are they strained, but there is a degree of bemusement amongst those in power at Valdebebas as to why Modric has allowed the speculation to carry on without a word of denial or commitment to his current employers.

Los Blancos believe they provided him with the platform to become the very best midfielder in world football, and a little respect wouldn't have gone amiss in this situation.

Links with Inter have been problematic as it has panicked supporters, something which is not at all welcome after Ronaldo's sale.

There hasn't been a truly monumental arrival at Real Madrid in the current transfer window either, and it simply cannot be contemplated that Perez will allow the squad to be weakened even further.

Wednesday will prove crucial with regards to Modric's future with a meeting with the president planned.

Behind The Scene Of APC's Primaries, Other Political Parties

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was elected in June last year, following the primaries of the ruling party. Before Tinubu's emergence, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party had set up a committee led by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to screen the presidential aspirants. More so, all the presidential aspirants had bought, filled and returned the nomination form.
