One time governor of Kano state, who ruled for two terms, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has made his presidential declaration at Abuja, Nigeria's capital.
Kwankwaso on Wednesday, August 29, declared to run for the Presidency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the coming 2019 general elections.
His declaration came less than 24 hours after he was denied use of the Eagle Square as venue for the political event.
But the senator, who later chose Chinda Hotel, at Jabi district Abuja, as venue for the event literarily grounded that area of Abuja as his supporters from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT thronged to the venue to witness the declaration.
The senator representing Kano Central said at the event, “Distinguished ladies and gentlemen let me thank you for coming far and wide to hear my decision to run for the president of Nigeria.
“Today, I declare under PDP to offer a leadership as all is not well in our polity.
On this day, I offer you a great leadership anchored on our constitution.
“As I formally declare my intention to vie for the office of the President on the platform of the PDP, I promise you a value-based leadership. We shall provide national security and as a former Minister of Defense, I know what I am talking about here.”
