Mohamed Salah who has been in blistering form in his first season for Liverpool left Roma for some reasons best known to him.
Salah tormented his former club Roma on Tuesday, April 24 night, with a brace in Liverpool's 5-2 Champions League first leg semi-final victory at Anfield.
The Italian club's fans may wish they hadn't sold the Egyptian, but sporting director Monchi has explained that their hands were tied.
"We had to sell him one way or another before June 30, 2017, in order to comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules," he said in an interview with Onda Cero and Radio MARCA's 'El Transistor' programme.
"We didn't have any other solution because he wanted to go and we were obligated to sell him.
"It was for something more than 42 million euros."
Having netted 43 goals this season, his value has since sky-rocketed.
