APC National Chairman Removal; Party Reacts To Plot By Mischief Makers

There are accusations and counter-accusations over the said plot to remove the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun from his position.

Bolaji Abdullahi, National publicity secretary of the APC, stated that the National Working Committee is “not miffed” by the people calling for the removal of its APC Chairman

Abdullahi was reacting to a protest near the APC headquarters at Abuja last Friday, February 16, by some party members.

The protesters, who dropped a petition at the national office, said they want action taken ahead of the meetings of the national caucus and the National Executive Committee fixed for the 26 and 27 February 2018.

Leader of the group, Ishola Adeshina alleged that Oyegun had been running the accounts of the party without a recourse to majority of national officers of the party

Reacting, Abdullahi noted that it was within the right of the petitioners to demand for accountability on the finances of the party.

He, however, stated that they were wrong to have engaged in street protests.

“I haven’t seen the petition. But if they are asking for a probe of the national working committee, I don’t have any objection. But there is a laid down procedure in the party for demanding for accountability, not street shows”, he told Tribune.

‘’Whoever has grievances should bring it to the National Executive Committee; don’t forget that the national working committee is subordinate to NEC.

“There is a NEC meeting slated for 27th of this month, let them bring it (the petition) to NEC and it will be discussed, accordingly—not by precipitating violence,”‎ he added.

#RamadanDailyDigest: Muslim Wives Are Supporters, Not Slaves

Muslims have completed fasting Day 4 today, as they look forward to Day 5 fasting out of the 29 or 30 days fasting; it is important to highlight the roles Muslim wives play in the family. Muslim wives are supporters, and not slaves, and should be treated with utmost dignity. In the religion of Islam, the roles and rights of Muslim wives are copiously written and spoken about. How husbands should relate with their wives are clearly stated. In the Glorious Qur'an, to show the love Allaah has for women, chapter 4 is also called 'Suuratu Nisaa' which translates to chapter of the women in English language. Interesting to know that there is no single chapter out of the total 114 chapters of the Glorious Qur'an named after men, further showing that Muslim wives, daughters, mothers, and all groups of females are held in high esteem by Allaah. It is a sad tale to see what happens in the present day world, whereby some women are maltreated and abused by the society and their part...
