President Muhammadu Buhari a few days ago, received some words of counselling from ex president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo advised Buhari via an 18-page statement termed epistle by some Nigerians.
One of the major crux of the former president's lengthy letter was about the poor handling of the economy. Chief Obasanjo stated that Buhari is a good military man, who has tried in areas of security and anti-corruption. However, the current president has scored far below average mark in reviving Nigeria's economy.
On Obasanjo's assessment of Buhari's economic gains or losses, Naijaloveinfo discovered an old newspaper, "Sunday Herald" which carried a bold headline captioned: BUHARI BLAMES MIDDLEMEN FOR POOR ECONOMY.
This edition of Sunday Herald was published when the incumbent president was the military Head of State of the country (December, 1983 - August, 1985).
Nigerians themselves should assess the president's economic policies and say if their standard of living has fared anything better, since Buhari became Nigeria's 5th democratically elected president on Friday, May 29, 2015.
