The PPRO said the suspect, during interrogation, confessed to have gone into hiding in Nguru town in Yobe after he ran away from Akwa-Ibom, adding that Jigawa State command is working out modalities to transfer the suspect to Akwa-Ibom, where he committed the crime to be arraigned.
Responding to questions from journalists, the suspect said the police were accusing him for an offence that he did not commit. He said he had been with his brother who is a soldier in Nguru, Yobe State since last year.
“The police arrested me for what I have not done. I ran out of money therefore, asked my wife to send some money for me from home, Enwang village. My bank has no branch in Nguru but there is one in Hadejia so I came to Hadejia to make withdrawal.
“While waiting to cash money in the bank, the police arrested me and took me to the police station for three days before I was transferred to Dutse,” he said.
