#FuelScarcity: Why Nigerians Do Not Believe In Any Government

It should not come as a surprise to the elected political officer holders in the country that a large number of Nigerians do not believe in any government.

About a few weeks ago, there were some glimmer of hope that the lingering fuel scarcity would soon be a thing of the past. However, this is far from the truth. Vehicle users and owners still queue up for several hours to get fuel above the normal pump price of N145.

Who is deceiving who? This is the apt question at this time.

President Muhammadu Buhari is the minister of petroleum resources. The minister of State for petroleum is Ibe Kachikwu, while Maikanti Baru is GMD of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The sad thing is that these three wise men have not been able to come up with a lasting and sustainable solution to fuel shortage. If it's not one complain today, it's another tomorrow. When oil marketers are not blamed, fuel importers are blamed.

The reasons why a government is put in place are basically two. For economic welfare of the people and to secure lives and properties of the citizens.

Looking at the current administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the previous ones led by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), since the return of democracy in 1999, all these governments have woefully failed the good people of Nigeria. This is really heartbreaking!

Nigerians are used to hoping on God, and they will need to continue hoping. This is because, either the queues go tomorrow, it will still be the issue of why Nigerians do not believe in any government.
