Alexis Sanchez Posts Over 200-Words Instagram Statement After Becoming A Manchester United Player

Alexis Sanchez surprised a lot of Arsenal fans after his move to Europa League defending champions, Manchester United on Monday, January 22.

The Chilean eventually became a Manchester United player on Monday night and hit back at the critics who claim his move was driven by greed.

Sportsmail pundit and former Arsenal favourite Martin Keown is among those who have branded Sanchez a mercenary after he chose United over Manchester City on a four-and-a-half-year contract worth a total of £600,000 a week.

But Sanchez believes he is no different from Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who left the club for Barcelona in 2007 to fulfil his ambitions.

Alexis Sanchez posted 204-word Instagram statement after making Manchester United move.

The Chile forward blasted Arsenal legends who suggested he was not committed to the club

Alongside his statement, which thanked technical and medical staff as well as his Arsenal team-mates, Sanchez included a compilation video which showed a number of highlights from his three-and-a-half years at the club.

It begins with the on-pitch celebrations after Arsene Wenger's side lifted the Community Shield last summer having beaten Chelsea on penalties.

Although he played no part in the Wembley showpiece, Sanchez is all smiles in the video and despite animosity from pockets of supporters regarding his move, his Instagram statement aimed to reflect the happier times for him in an Arsenal shirt.

He said: ‘There are people who have spoken with no knowledge of what happens inside the club and cause damage.

‘I always gave 100 per cent, until the last day, when I asked the Mister (Arsene Wenger) to be in the team. I remember a conversation I had with Henry who changed club for the same reason, and today is my turn.’

The move to Manchester United which has seen him and Mkhitaryan swap places has seen many Arsenal legends take issue with the player's decision.

Ian Wright was one dissenting voice who suggested Sanchez 'clocked off' as he pushed for a move away since the summer window.

Speaking before Sanchez was confirmed as United's new No 7, Wright told BBC 5live: 'He’s not putting in a shift. (Philippe) Coutinho wanted to leave; he put in a transfer request but look at the way he’s playing.

'It does look to me like he’s clocked off.'
