Ahead Of 2019: Why Buhari Has Lost Support Of Northern, Southern Political Chieftains, Junaid Mohammed Reveals

A Second Republic federal legislator and Northerner Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has given strong reasons why top politicians in the country have deserted President Muhammadu Buhari.

The ex lawmaker stated that President Buhari has lost the support of northern and southern political heavyweights ahead of the 2019 election.

Mohammed told the Sun that the tragedy of the president’s second term bid was that “there is no politician of consequence from the either the North or South-West who is around him and who could reach out on his own to the leaders in the South-West and even in the North to canvass for support.”

According to him, heavyweight political figures such as a national leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Bisi Akande had since left Buhari because he had failed to build the party and bring warring parties together.

He said, “We all supported the emergence of APC in 2014. But we had thought they would build the party into a strong force after winning the election, unfortunately they have failed in that regard and Nigerians now know better.

“Having said that, I agree with what Kalu said, you cannot be working for Buhari’s re-election in the South West when the leaders of the zone are not on the same page with you.

“People who imagine themselves as being smart, often take themselves out of power. Buhari is aware that the relationship between Ajimobi and Shittu has been bad. What did he do to rein them in?

“He (Buhari) can’t afford to lose the North West and the South West, because already South South is hostile to him for whatever reason. North West may not be too keen to give him the number of votes he got in 2015. The votes of the North East are not too certain. So he can’t afford to joke with the South West.

“One of the tragedies of being alone in the presidency is that nobody of consequence in his circles from the North can reach out on his own to anyone in the North to canvass support for him.

“But Chief Bisi Akande can reach out on his own outside Tinubu to the people in the South West. That is the difference. But are Akande and Buhari too on the same page? I leave you and the readers with the response.”

#RamadanDailyDigest: Muslim Wives Are Supporters, Not Slaves

Muslims have completed fasting Day 4 today, as they look forward to Day 5 fasting out of the 29 or 30 days fasting; it is important to highlight the roles Muslim wives play in the family. Muslim wives are supporters, and not slaves, and should be treated with utmost dignity. In the religion of Islam, the roles and rights of Muslim wives are copiously written and spoken about. How husbands should relate with their wives are clearly stated. In the Glorious Qur'an, to show the love Allaah has for women, chapter 4 is also called 'Suuratu Nisaa' which translates to chapter of the women in English language. Interesting to know that there is no single chapter out of the total 114 chapters of the Glorious Qur'an named after men, further showing that Muslim wives, daughters, mothers, and all groups of females are held in high esteem by Allaah. It is a sad tale to see what happens in the present day world, whereby some women are maltreated and abused by the society and their part...
