Top Turkey Muslim Body Frowns At Liberal Mosque In Germany, Says Worshippers There Are Doing What Is Contrary To Islam (PHOTOS)

Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) strongly criticized a new liberal mosque in Germany on June 20, saying it violates the principles of Islam.

Men and women pray side by side at the new Ibn Rushd-Goethe mosque that opened earlier this month in Berlin, which has female imams and where Muslims of all sects of the faith are welcome to worship together and bans the wearing of burkas. The mosque is located inside a Protestant church.

Diyanet, which oversees religious activity in Turkey, said that such ideas were in line with projects led by the group of Fethullah Gulen, who Turkey blames for the July 15 failed coup.

“This initiative has disregarded the basic principles of our holy faith,” Diyanet said in a written statement.

"It is clear that this has been a project carried out for many years by FETO [Fethullahist Terrorist Organization] and other ill-gotten structures for the engineering of religion," it added.

The statement also said the principles of Islam are laid out in the holy Quran.

“The practices inside the mosque mentioned by the media during the opening do not comply with Islam and should not be considered as freedom of thought,” it said.

The mosque was founded by Seyran AteÅŸ, a lawyer and women’s rights activist living in Germany.

#RamadanDailyDigest: Significance Of Moonsighting & Commencement Of Ramadan

Ramadan Daily Digest, which is an annual article on the stable of Naijaloveinfo with hashtag, #RamadanDailyDigest will be discussing briefly the significance of moonsighting and the commencement of Ramadan. Ramadan, which is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar is the only month in which Muslims, the world over fast from dawn till sunset for 29 or 30 days. Allaah commands Muslims to fast as stated in some parts of Suuratul Baqara (chapter 2) of The Glorious Qur'an. The Glorious Qur'an is the first and most important book to all Muslims. For all the Islamic months, starting from Muharram (first month) to Dhul Hajj (12th month), the numbers of days in each of these 12 months are often 29 days and once in a while 30 days. The interesting thing about counting days is that the crescent (new moon) plays an important role. Therefore, the significance of moonsighting is the first consideration before starting the Ramadan fasting.  The question that could come up is why do Muslims co...
